“Remember the Titians” is one of the best dramas of all time.
Although in sight of the Washington Monument over the river in the nation's capital, suburban Virginian schools have been segregated for generations. Under federal mandate, one black and one white high school are closed and the students are sent to T.C. Williams High School in order for them to integrate. This tumultuous year is seen through the eyes of members of the football team where the man previously coaching the team of the black school is made head coach over the head of successful white coach. Based on the actual events of 1971, the team becomes the unifying symbol for the community, as the boys and the adults learn to depend on and trust each other.
With only one major star (Denzel Washington), an appealing cast of fresh unknowns, and a winning emphasis on substance over self-indulgent style, Boaz Yakin's “Remember the Titans” is a football movie that will be fondly remembered by anyone who sees it.
